Audition Cards & Process Information

AUDITION REGISTRATION PROCESS OVERVIEW:

  • Pick up a REQUIREMENT SHEET for each Company you wish to audition.
  • Fill out appropriate color-coded AUDITION CARD for each Company you wish to audition.
  • Pay AUDITION FEE at Front Desk & turn in AUDITION CARD(s) to complete registration.

AUDITION CARDS:
Audition Cards are color-coded by GRADE. White cards indicate that you are NEW to that specific Company and/or NEW to Company or RISPA all together.

  • RED cards are for ELEMENTARY SCHOOL grade levels... (entering Kindergarten thru 5th grade)
  • GREEN cards are for MIDDLE SCHOOL grade levels... (entering 6th-8th grades)
  • BLUE cards are for HIGH SCHOOL grade levels... (entering 9th-12th grades)
  • WHITE cards are for anyone who is NEW to that specific Company regardless of grade level (even if you are already in another RISPA Company).

For example...

* IF you are CURRENTLY in Lyrical Company AND are auditioning for Lyrical Company AGAIN, then you will pick an Audition Card for Lyrical Company in the color of your grade level for next season as of September 1st, 2024. In other words... if you are in 5th grade now, but will be in 6th grade next season as of 9/1/24, then you would fill out a GREEN Middle School Lyrical audition card.

* IF you are CURRENTLY in Lyrical Company BUT auditioning for a NEW Company (such as Jazz) that you did not participate in during the previous 2023-2024 season, then you will pick a WHITE Audition Card for that new Company.

* IF you are NOT CURRENTLY in any Company class, you will pick WHITE Audition cards for EACH Company for which you wish to audition.

By filling out your Audition Cards to register and paying the audition fees beforehand, the check-in process on the day of your auditions will be quick and easy.  NO PARENTS are allowed in to the auditions...ONLY students.

Students need to audition for EACH Company they wish to be in even if they were already in that company this previous season. We recommend that you try out for all the companies in which you are interested so you have options. You must audition with your appropriate grade level based on the auditioner's grade as of Sept. 1, 2024.

(PLEASE NOTE: Grade Levels are per Fulton and Forsyth County Public Schools... i.e., 5th grade is considered Elementary School.)

Each Company will have a different set of requirements.
PICK UP a Requirement Sheet for EACH Company you wish to audition and review what will be required of you from a time commitment to an attire commitment.  Also PICK UP the appropriate Audition Card for EACH Company you wish to audition. (Scroll down for an explanation of the color-coded Audition Cards.)

Two Types of Registration/Payment Options

AUDITION REMINDERS:

  • Please arrive a few minutes before your audition time, but NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES beforehand.
  • Report to the THEATRE unless a different studio is listed during the weekend auditions. (See schedule below.)
  • Auditions will last a minimum of 1 hour to a maximum of 2 hours.
  • Wear appropriate dance attire for the genre of dance for which you are auditioning. (Refer to the requirement sheets for suggestions... such as leotard & leggings.) However, since it's an audition, feel free to stand out by wearing whatever colors you wish. All black attire is not required.
  • However, wearing inappropriate dance attire could disqualify you from the auditions.

STIPULATION FOR 2024-2025 SEASON:

Prior to these last several years, RISPA used to ask their Company Members to make a choice between being in RISPA Company OR participating in other activities that required huge time commitments such as school productions, dance teams or cheerleading competitions. We have had several families who have juggled it all and made it work by being transparent with us while being dedicated to RISPA and making us their first priority. We have tried to work with students and their school schedules/activities to help them manage it all and participate in everything. However, despite our efforts, we have found that Company Members seem to take advantage of our leniency and started to miss classes, rehearsals or even shows for reasons unrelated to their previously listed other activities. This behavior has bothered us greatly. We feel that too often RISPA has taken a back seat to other commitments and it has led us to reconsider our policy. That being said, if your student is wanting to participate in a Dance Team, Cheerleading Squad or School Production and in doing so, will have any issues with their RISPA classes, rehearsals, shows or competition, it will force us to ask them to make a choice between the two. Of course, your student can do these other activities, but if ANY conflicts arise with their RISPA commitments, we will expect them to be at RISPA and NOT their other activity. We respectfully ask that you weigh your options and make your decisions as to which activities you wish to commit to BEFORE auditioning. In other words, DO NOT AUDITION if these other activities will cause you to have ANY conflicts with Company commitments. If you sign up for Company and then have to drop as a result of these conflicts, you will still incur the financial responsibility of being in Company.  (Exceptions to these other activities would include school related programs such as band or chorus which earn a school grade, college auditions, and professional paid productions.)
